Sunday's Women's Tennis Roundup

Mercer 4, Chattanooga 3
Tea Zivic came up with a win in three sets to clinch the match for the Bears, 4-3 over Chattanooga for the first SoCon win of the season for the Bears Sunday afternoon from LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. In doubles play, Chattanooga won the first match that finished on court one as Alice Hall and Rozalie Dohnalova defeated Marie Bannmeyer and Dzhastina Mikhnova, 6-2.

The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team dropped a tight 4-3 decision at Mercer in its Southern Conference opener on Sunday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center in Macon, Ga. Chattanooga (8-6, 0-1 SoCon) has now dropped its last four meetings against Mercer (5-9, 1-1 SoCon) after previously winning 13-straight matches from 2007-2022. Two of the previous four matches and six of the last 10 meetings between the two programs have been decided by a 4-3 count.

No. 50 Furman 4, No. 34 Yale 2

With the win, the Paladins (11-2, 2-0 SoCon) extend their winning streak to six matches, while Yale falls to 9-4. Furman won two doubles matches to get on the board first.  Senior Jess Dawson and sophomore Macy Hitchcock blanked Angela Huang and Julia Werdiger, 6-0, at flight two, and seniors Alexa Griffith and Marissa Pennings blew past Mirabelle Brettkelly and Erin Ha, 6-2, at number three for the point.  The flight one contest was unfinished, with Yale's Shyla Aggarwal and Orly Ogilvy leading seniors Ellie Schulson and Sara Snyder, who rank 78th nationally, 4-3.
