The Western Carolina tennis team improved to 2-1 in Southern Conference play on Saturday afternoon using a commanding 6-1 decision over the visiting UNC Greensboro Spartans at the Catamount Athletic Complex. The 6-1 victory is the largest margin of victory for the Catamounts in series history, as WCU has taken three of their last four matches with the Spartans. The Catamounts opened the day, clinching the doubles point thanks to wins on courts three followed by a tight battle on the top court by Angela Perez & Madison Schwarz and Jade Groen & Chloe Schwarz, respectively. Perez and Schwarz rolled in their matchup, earning a 6-2 win to open doubles play.
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 battle with the Catamounts of Western Carolina in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Saturday afternoon at the Catamount Athletic Complex. Western Carolina tallied the first point of the day after securing two of three doubles contests. Madison Schwarz and Angela Perez defeated Elisabeth Birkevold and Ella Olexa, 6-2, on court three. Sydney Bly and Raegan Mitchell tied up doubles with a 6-4 win over Andrea Redondo and Isabella Sambola on court two. However, Western Carolina's Jade Groen and Chloe Schwarz notched a 1-0 lead for the Catamounts after defeating Olivia Gallagher and Lauren Thomson, 7-5, on court one.
