Samford 4, UNCG 3
The Samford women's tennis team opened Southern Conference play with a 4-3 win at UNC Greensboro Saturday afternoon. With the win, Samford improved its record to 8-7 overall and 1-0 in Southern Conference play. UNCG dropped its record to 3-11 overall and 0-3 in league play. In doubles, Samford won on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts to take the first point of the match. In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 to take the 4-3 win.
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) women's tennis team dropped a 4-3 battle with the Samford Bulldogs in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Saturday at the UNCG Tennis Courts. Samford posted the first point of the day after securing doubles. Eleni Liakonis and Meredith Taylor notched a 6-1 win over Elisabeth Birkevold and Lauren Thomson on court three before Margaret Jaraczewski and Hailey Troup defeated Sydney Bly and Raegan Mitchell, 7-5, on court two. Alexandra Dodashev and Olivia Gallagher took down Sara Erenda and Grace Keller, 7-5, on court one, but Samford was able to head into singles with a 1-0 lead.
Wofford 7, Chattanooga 0
The Wofford women's tennis team began Southern Conference play with a 7-0 sweep of Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point and then won all six singles matches. In doubles, Lily Woods and Breda Brennan had a 6-2 win at the #1 position. Wofford had 5-4 leads in the matches at #2 and #3 doubles. Chloe Elliott and Brianna Wilbur won 6-4 at the #3 position to clinch the doubles point. At the #2 position, Grace Agster and Catherine Bluin completed the doubles sweep with a 6-4 win.
The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team dropped a tough 7-0 decision on the road at Wofford during Southern Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center in Spartanburg, S.C. Following the defeat, Chattanooga drops to 8-7 overall and 0-2 inside SoCon play. Wofford improves to an impressive 12-1 this season while opening league play 1-0 following today's win.
