Thursday's Women's Tennis Roundup

Western Carolina 6, Fairfield 1
Western Carolina women's tennis capped off a successful 3-0 week in spring break play with a dominating 6-1 win over the Fairfield Stags on Thursday afternoon. The highlight of the day came on the top court in singles play, as Jade Groen posted her 39th career solo victory over Fairfield's Victoria Mandma, setting the program record in career singles wins. Groen's 10th victory of the season broke a tie with Jordan Strickland at 38 career solo wins. The junior from Zoetermeer, Netherlands set the program record in only 52 decisions and 63 match appearances. She's currently 39-13 in singles play in her career. 

Charleston Southern 4, Samford 0
The Samford women's tennis fell at Charleston Southern, 4-0, Thursday afternoon. With the loss, Samford's record fell to 7-7 on the season. Charleston Southern improved its record to 9-4 with the win. Charleston Southern won on the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles courts to capture the first point of the match. The Bucs then won singles matches at No. 6, No. 4 and No. 1 to close out the 4-0 win. Next up, Samford will open Southern Conference play at UNC Greensboro on Saturday, March 22. The match is set for a 12 p.m. (CT) start from Greensboro, N.C.
