Saturday's Women's Tennis Roundup

ETSU 4, Minnesota 3

Playing in its fifth match against a power conference opponent this season, the ETSU women's tennis broke through with a 4-3 win over Minnesota in a neutral site match played in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday. Saturday's win not only boosts ETSU's record to 3-4 on the season but also is ETSU's first win over an active member of the Big Ten since it defeated Michigan State in 2007.

Longwood 4, UNCG 3

The Lancers got on the board after securing the doubles point. First, Oriana Izarra and Phoebe Mitchell defeated Elisabeth Birkevold and Lauren Thomson on court three, 6-2. Longwood got the 1-0 lead after Elizaveta Gnilozubova and Karina Rizvanouva secured the 6-3 win over Alexandra Dodashev and Olivia Gallagher, 6-3. The doubles match between Alexandra Magia & Feline Van Eijkelenburg and Raegan Mitchell & Sydney Bly remained unfinished at 4-4.

Wake Forest, South Carolina Down Catamounts in Saturday Doubleheader

Testing itself with a challenging nonconference early-season schedule, the Western Carolina women's tennis team dropped a pair of hard-fought tilts against Power Four opponents on Saturday against both Wake Forest (8-3) and host South Carolina (5-3) by matching 4-0 counts. Wake Forest (8-3) and South Carolina (5-3) both won their matches against the Catamounts and the Gamecocks earned a 4-1 win over the Demon Deacons.
