App State's Chad Bellis named socon wrestler of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. –  App State’s Chad Bellis has been selected as the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for the week of Dec. 4- 10.  

Bellis, a native of Bloomington, Illinois, earned a spot in the final 12 of the 133-pound bracket, a field that included 11 ranked wrestlers, at the Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational on Dec. 6. Bellis defeated Northwestern’s Massey Odiotti by pin and 17^th-ranked Brett Ungar of Cornell by takedown in overtime.  

Bellis reached the night session, going 2-2 on the day, with losses to 10^th-ranked Tyler Knox of Standford and fourth-ranked All-American Dylan Ragusin of Michigan. 

Bellis is currently 6-4 on the season and is ranked third in the Southern Conference 133-weight class according to Flo Wrestling.  

App State travels to VMI on Dec. 12, marking the first SoCon dual of the season for both teams.
