Samford's Richards named socon women's golfer of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Anika Richards has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of Feb. 5-11.  

Richards, a native of Fernandina Beach, Florida, went 3-0 during the Oyster Shuck Match Play in Charleston, South Carolina, on Feb. 10-11.  

In a 3-1-1 win over Presbyterian, she won 3+2 and then she won 5+4 in a 3-1-1 win over Radford. In Tuesday's championship match against High Point, she earned a 2+0 win in the Bulldogs' 3-2 loss. 

Richards’ performance helped lead Samford to a second-place finish at 2-1, finishing just under High Point (3-0).  

Samford will return to the green on March 3-4, as the Bulldogs host the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate.
