Samford's Richards named SoCon Women's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford’s Anika Richards has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of March 26- April 1. This is Richards’ second weekly honor of the season.  

Richards shot rounds of 73, 72, and 70 at the ULM Invitational in Monroe, Louisiana, which wrapped play on Tuesday. Her one-under-par performance landed her tied for sixth in the 57-player field at the end of the event.  

The Fernandina Beach, Florida, native spearheaded the Bulldogs’ drive to sixth place as a team.  

The junior completed the event tied for fifth in par-3 scoring (2.83) and tied for second in par-4 scoring (3.93). Richards also finished the tournament tied for third in total pars with 40.  

The ULM Invitational was Samford’s final tune up, as the Bulldogs now look to prepare for the Southern Conference Championships in West Columbia, South Carolina, on April 14 –16.
