UNCG's Leetham named SoCon Women's Golfer of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Lulu Leetham has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week of March 5-11.  

Leetham’s four-under-par performance at the Puerto Rico Shootout earned her a second-place finish.  

The Spartan freshman shot rounds of 69 and 71 in the first and second rounds of play, respectively. Leetham’s first round of 69 is a personal best for her career.  

A native of Brackley, England, Leetham tied for first in par-5 scoring, finishing with a 5-under-par score on those holes. She also sank an eagle during the tournament, accounting for the second eagle for the Spartans during the event.  

The UNCG Spartans finished first in team standings, their first tournament title since the 2008-09 season.  

The Spartans will return to the green on March 21 at the Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, North Carolina, for the NC State Invitational.
