Saturday's Women's Basketball Roundup

Beans scores 18 points to lead Western Carolina past Furman

Western Carolina ended its eight-game losing skid, defeating Furman in a 70-57 contest on Saturday afternoon at the Liston B. Ramsey Center. The Catamounts went into halftime with a 33-18 lead and were able to hold off the Paladins for the final 20 minutes.

Tyja Beans scored 18 points in an incredibly efficient 6-of-8 shooting performance to lead the way for Western Carolina.

Furman was led by Sydney Ryan, who scored 11 points while collecting six boards.


Moore, ETSU bounce back, take down Mercer

ETSU defeating Mercer in a 70-67 contest on Saturday afternoon at Hawkins Arena. The Buccaneers' lead was as large as 14 points in the first half, while the Bears played a competitive second half.

Courtney Moore scored 24 points to lead the way for ETSU. Moore was particularly effective from three-point territory, knocking down 4-of-7 attempts.

The Bears scored their 67 points on 53% shooting from the field.


UNC Greensboro keeps rolling, adds win over Wofford to resume

UNC Greensboro earned an impressive SoCon win on Saturday afternoon, taking down Wofford by a score of 68-60. The Spartans went into the break leading by one point, and then outscored the Terriers 34-27 over the final 20 minutes to secure the win.

Makiah Asidanya scored 20 points to lead the way for UNC Greensboro. Asidanya was particularly effective from three-point land, knocking down 4-of-6 attempts.

Evangelia Paulk recorded 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Molly Masingale contributed another 13 points to pace Wofford.


Samford takes down Chattanooga

Samford handed Chattanooga a 55-50 loss at the Pete Hanna Center. The Bulldogs went into halftime trailing 28-25 but outscored the Mocs by eight points in the second half to come back and win.

Emily Bowman scored 16 points in an incredibly efficient 7-of-7 shooting performance to lead the way for Samford.

Caia Elisaldez scored 15 points, while Gianna Corbitt added another 14 to lead the way for Chattanooga.
