Friday's Women's Tennis Roundup
The Wofford women's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win over Coastal Carolina on Friday afternoon at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers won the doubles point and then claimed four of the six singles matches to remain undefeated on the season.
The Chattanooga Mocs women's tennis team earned its third-straight victory after cruising to a 6-1 non-conference decision over Alabama A&M on a breezy Friday afternoon outdoors at the UTC Tennis Center on campus. Chattanooga (4-4), now winners of its last three, improves to 5-0 all-time against Alabama A&M (0-3) including wins in each of the past three seasons. The Mocs have surrendered just two team points during its three-match win streak which included wins over Northwestern State and EKU in addition to today's win over AAMU.
The ETSU women's tennis team won three matches against Alabama on Friday in non-conference action, but the Crimson Tide ultimately came away with the 5-2 win over the Bucs. Friday's loss moves ETSU's record to 2-4 on the season. In doubles action, the Bucs dropped the first of three tilts, but the tandem of Daniela Rivera and Alessandra Caceres continue to play well for the Blue and Gold as they secured a 6-2 win out of the No. 1 position. Unfortunately, the Crimson Tide won the other doubles contest to secure the doubles point for the match.
Clemson 7, Mercer 0
The Mercer women's tennis team dropped its match at Clemson, 7-0 Friday evening in Clemson, South Carolina. The morning got started with doubles matches where Clemson's Amelie Smejkalova and Gaia Parravicini defeated Mercer's Marie Bannmeyer and Dzhastina Mikhnova, 6-1. The Tigers would then clinch the doubles point on court two where the Tigers' Romana Cisovska and Candela Yecora defeated Marina de Diego Quinones and Ines Hömberg, 6-3.
