Tuesday's softball roundup

Samford 10, West Georgia 2

The Samford softball team played its second game in as many days as they returned home to host West Georgia tonight. The Bulldog's offense exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as they run-ruled the Wolves 10-2 for the victory. The win moves Samford's record to 9-5 while West Georgia falls to 4-5 with the defeat.

Northern Iowa 8, Wofford 5 (9 innings)

Wofford softball (11-4) lost an extra inning battle against Northern Iowa (7-3) by an 8-5 score after nine innings of softball at Hope Field on Tuesday, February 25.

Abby Greenwood got the start in the circle against the Panthers and went three innings with two runs surrendered and was replaced by Natalya Salo. Salo went 5.1 innings and gave up five runs on eight hits and had the unfortunate conclusion of receiving the loss to drop her record to 3-1 on the season. The game was closed out by Tayven Stephenson, who gave up one run in a third of an inning pitched. The Terrier defense did not do the pitching staff any favors tonight as they committed four errors, including two in the bottom of the ninth, that would lead to the eventual loss.
