Sunday's softball roundup

Miami (Ohio) 5, ETSU 3

East Tennessee State University softball came up short on Sunday in Huntsville, dropping the last game of the Rocket City Softball Showcase 5-3 to Miami Ohio.

Northern Iowa 4, Furman 0

Northern Iowa plated four runs in the top of the seventh inning and Anna Wischnowski hurled a one-hit shutout as the Panthers downed Furman, 4-0, in the finale of the Furman Softball Classic on Sunday afternoon.

UConn 2, Mercer 1

Mercer put together a furious 5th-inning rally in an attempt knot the game up before a predetermined time limit, but fell just short in its cause in a 2-1 loss to UConn in the final game of the 2025 MUSB Invitational on Sunday afternoon at Sikes Field.

UNCG 5, Towson 0

George Washington 2, UNCG 1

he UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team shut out Towson, 5-0, and then fell to George Washington, 2-1, on the final day of the UNCG Invitational on Sunday at the UNCG Softball Stadium. 
 
The shutout was the Spartans' second of the season and are now 11-3 overall.

Purdue 11, Samford 4

The Samford softball team continued play this morning at the Green and Gold Classic hosted by UAB. After a 1-1 day on Friday, the Bulldogs returned for a game against Purdue. The Dogs were outhit by the Boilermakers as they fell 11-4 to take their record to 7-5 on the season while Purdue moves to 8-6. 

Chattanooga 9, IU Indy 8

Chattanooga 1, SEMO 0

Chattanooga senior Olivia Lipari hit .667 Sunday to lead the Mocs softball team to a sweep of the Frost Classic at Frost Stadium.
 
Lipari belted out a pair of home run on four hits with three runs batted in and scored two runs in the Mocs back-to-back wins over IU Indy (9-8) and Southeast Missouri State (1-0). Acelynn Sellers and Abi Bunt each added a home run with two RBIs on the day.
