East Tennessee State University softball split its first two games at the Pinnacle PC Invitational on Friday.
ETSU routed Maine in its first game of the tournament, putting up a season high 12 runs in the win. The Buccaneers were led at the plate by senior infielder Cameron Young, who went 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Senior infielder Riley Nayadley and junior outfielder Brylee Mesusan collected three hits each, and senior infielder Sara Muir tallied a team-high three RBI. Mesusan also stole four bases.Furman softball dropped a 6-1 decision to Lipscomb and 8-1 verdict against Harvard on the opening day of Georgia Southern's Bash in the Boro on Friday in Statesboro, Ga.Mercer tacked up 17 hits and scored nine times behind a complete game-effort from Grace Roark to top Stony Brook in their Friday opener, but could not hold off a late-inning comeback effort by host Tennessee State, as the Bears split a pair of games at the Roar City Invitational in Music City, USA.The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) softball team extended its win streak to five games with a 10-1 five-inning win over Saint Francis and then a 6-1 win over Merrimack on Friday at the UNCG Softball Stadium.The Samford softball team had its home opener tonight as they began play at their own tournament which continues tomorrow and Sunday which includes UAB and Indiana State. The Bulldogs opened with the Blazers tonight and won in dramatic fashion as they walked it off in the eighth inning 6-5. The win moves Samford to 3-2 early in the season while UAB falls to 4-2.

North Alabama 8, Chattanooga 2
