SoCon Announces Rifle Athletes of the Month
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UAB’s Emily Buck and Emma Bueschel have been selected as the Southern Conference Rifle Athletes of the Month for February. Buck has earned the honor in smallbore, while Bueschel earns the honor in air rifle. The selection is made by the league office and is the final selection of the season.
Buck, a sophomore, averaged 569.5 in smallbore competition in February. Against Jacksonville State on Feb. 22, the Alabaster, Alabama native, set a new personal record in smallbore with a 578.
For the season, Buck averaged 568.2 in air rifle, with an overall aggregate average of 1146.2.
Bueschel, a sophomore, averaged 573.5, in air rifle during the month of February. The Joliet, Illinois native also had a strong showing against Jacksonville State, scoring 577 in the air rifle discipline.
For the season, Bueschel averaged 571.8 in air rifle, with a 1131.6 overall aggregate average.
Bueschel and Buck also went one and two, respectively, in recording the highest aggregate scores on their team during the season.
The individual performances of Buck and Bueschel helped lead their team to a third-place finish at the SoCon Rifle Championships hosted in February.
