The Citadel 7, Methodist 0
The Citadel men's tennis team won the first match of a three-day road trip, blanking Methodist University 7-0 on Thursday. The new doubles pairing of freshmen, Nick Stroumpis / Anthony Osipov won their 3-doubles tilt in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-5). Another new doubles pairing of Noah Van Dyke / Tucker Hendrix won in just their second match of the season playing together, 6-3 at 1-doubles. In singles play, The Citadel 1-6 all earned significant victories, especially Bradey Minnich and Stroumpis.
South Florida 7, Furman 0
The No. 36 South Florida Bulls blanked the Furman men's tennis team, 7-0, in non-conference action Thursday afternoon at USF Varsity Tennis Courts. Furman drops to 5-7 overall while South Florida improves to 11-3 on the season. The Bulls took two of the three doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 to claim the opening point. Toto Llanes and Stepan Mruzek recorded a 7-5 victory over Matt Kandel and Elijah Poritzky at No. 1, and Hugo Car and Agustin Cuellar downed Cole Burnam and Connor Laymon, playing at No. 2, 6-4.
