Thursday's Men's Tennis Roundup

ETSU 6, Wofford 1
The ETSU men's tennis team kept things rolling on Thursday with a 6-1 road victory at Wofford. Thursday's win is ETSU's sixth straight and boosts its overall record 7-4 and 2-0 in SoCon play. ETSU secured the doubles point against the Terriers thanks to a pair of wins out of the No. 2 and 3 positions. Pedro Cressoni and James Sim got it started with a convincing 6-1 triumph for their fifth win of the season before Francisco Lamas and Juan Andres Listo clinched the point for the Bucs with a 6-4 victory.

The Wofford College men's tennis team was defeated 6-1 by East Tennessee State University at the Reeves Tennis Center on a beautiful Thursday afternoon. The Buccaneers earned the doubles point and won five singles matches to claim the league win. In doubles, the Bucs had a 6-1 at the #3 position. Wofford answered with a 6-2 win at the #1 position by the pairing of Robbie Young and Jack Deveney. At #2 doubles, Hugo Rask and Ian Rasheed were up 4-3, but the Bucs won the next three games for a 6-4 win that clinched the doubles point.

Samford 5, College of Charleston 2
The Samford men's tennis team picked up a 5-2 win at College of Charleston in its final non-conference match of the season Thursday afternoon. With the win, Samford improved its record to 13-4. College of Charleston fell to 7-5 with the loss. College of Charleston won the doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 3 to take an early 1-0 lead. In singles, Samford won at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6 to come back for the 5-2 win.

James Madison 4, UNCG 3
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 4-3 while competing in a non-conference dual on Thursday against the James Madison Dukes at the Hillside Courts in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The Dukes earned the first point of the afternoon by prevailing in doubles. After William Elmers and Luke Thomson won the first doubles match, 6-1, over Edson Sanchez and Aurelien Schmitt, Harrison Lee and Dennis Wiebe as well as Esteve Agusti and Zach Fleishman earned 6-3 and 6-4 victories, respectively, to secure the doubles point.
