The ETSU men's tennis team began conference play with a 7-0 shutout victory on the road at UNC Greensboro on Saturday afternoon. Saturday's win over the Spartans not only boosted the Bucs' record to 6-4 but also extended ETSU's winning streak to 16 against SoCon opponents. The Bucs, who have now won five straight matches since starting the season with a 1-4 record, were dominant in both singles and doubles on Saturday. ETSU came away with wins in all three doubles contests and all six singles matches as well. It is ETSU's first 7-0 shutout since defeating UNCG by the same score on March 12, 2023.
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team was handed a 7-0 loss by the East Tennessee State (ETSU) Buccaneers in a Southern Conference (SoCon) dual on Saturday afternoon at the UNCG Tennis Courts. ETSU swept UNCG in doubles to earn the first point. Martin Garcia-Ripoll defeated UNCG's Tymofiy Khrystyuk and Luke Thomson, 6-3, to get the day started. Francisco Lamas and Juan Andres Listo then knocked off Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz, 6-4, for the doubles point. Finishing the third doubles match anyways, Pedro Cressoni and James Sim defeated William Elmers and John Gabelic, 6-4.
Georgia Southern 6, Mercer 1
Junior Hod'Abalo Isak Padio recorded his 11th straight-sets singles victory of the season to get Mercer on the board, but Georgia Southern raked in each of the other five singles matches to fuel a 6-1 win over the visiting Bears on Saturday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Center. The decision snapped a two-match run of success for the Bears (4-9) who fell to 1-4 away from Macon with the result as well. It was the sixth victory in the last seven outings for the Eagles (9-5) who have now taken six-straight meetings in the series with MU.
Campbell 6, The Citadel 1
Noah Van Dyke / Tucker Hendrix fell in a tiebreak at 1-doubles 6-7. Freshman Reece Beckendorf earned his third straight singles win of the weekend, outlasting his opponent in a first set tiebreak 7-6 before battling to a 7-5 second set victory. Fellow freshman Anthony Osipov tried to force a third set to earn his third singles win of the weekend as well but fell 2-6, 5-7.
