Furman 7, The Citadel 0
The Furman men's tennis team started off Southern Conference action Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 sweep of The Citadel Bulldogs at Earle Tennis Center. The victory, Furman's 59th all-time over The Citadel, improves it to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the SoCon. The Bulldogs drop to 1-4 on the year and 0-1 in conference play.
The Citadel men's tennis team fell to the Furman Paladins in their home and Southern Conference opener on Saturday afternoon, 0-7. Three freshmen, Nick Stroumpis, Beckendorf, and Anthony Osipov played at 4,5 and 6-singles respectively, all falling in straight sets.
Chattanooga 5, Eastern Kentucky 2
The Chattanooga Mocs men's tennis team found themselves back in the win column after securing a convincing 5-2 decision over non-conference opponent Eastern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon outside at the UTC Tennis Center on campus. Chattanooga (2-5) has now won two of its last three matches following the victory over EKU (3-8). The Mocs kicked off the match with the doubles point after seeing wins at No. 3 (6-1) with Cortland Grove and Kristof Kincses and No. 1 (6-3) with Jakub Jupa and Gabriel Castillo.
Wofford 4, Emmanuel 0
The Wofford College men's tennis team earned a pair of sweeps on Saturday at the Reeves Tennis Center. The Terriers downed Emmanuel 4-0 in the first match and added a 4-0 win over Converse in the second match. To open the day, the Terriers duo of Daniel Clivio and Jack Burdell had a 6-2 win at the #3 doubles position. Robbie Young and Jack Deveney added a 6-2 win at the #1 position to clinch the doubles point. The #2 doubles match was unfinished with Hugo Rask and Ian Rasheed leading 5-2.
Wofford 4, Converse 0
In the second match, Robbie Young and Jack Deveney started with a 6-2 win at the #1 position. Jack Burdell and Daniel Clivio had a 6-4 win at the #3 position to clinch the doubles point. The #2 doubles match was unfinished with Hugo Rask and Ian Rasheed leading 5-4.
