The Samford men's tennis team extended its win streak to seven matches with a pair of 7-0 wins over Kennesaw State and Piedmont College Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center. In the win over Kennesaw State, Samford swept all three doubles matches to capture the first point of the match. The Bulldogs then swept all six singles matches to secure the 7-0 win.
Gardner-Webb 6, Mercer 1
Two-time defending Big South champion Gardner-Webb won a pair of tight matchups to clinch the coveted doubles point, and then captured three-straight singles matches in straight sets to fuel a 6-1 victory over home-standing Mercer on Sunday afternoon at the LeRoy Peddy Tennis Center. The setback added a sour end to the weekend for the Bears (1-3) who notched the win column for the first time this season with a 5-2 rout of visiting College of Charleston.
Queens 5, UNCG 2
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) men's tennis team fell 5-2 while facing Queens University at Howard Levine Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. Juniors Andrew Black and Devon Moskowitz earned the lone points for UNCG with wins during singles play. After Queens completed a clean sweep in doubles, 7-5, 6-2, 6-2, to earn the point, Moskowitz earned the first singles point for UNCG with a 7-5, 7-5 victory over Luke Coppage.
Samford 7, Piedmont 0
Against Piedmont, Samford won the doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the doubles point. The match at No. 2 doubles was not finished. Samford then swept the six singles matches for the 7-0 win.
