UNCG’s Dutton and Marcotte named SoCon men’s golfers of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG’s Colin Dutton and Jack Marcotte have been selected as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfers of the Week for all competition from Feb. 19-25. The selection is made by the league office.
 
The two golfers finished tied for fourth at the Dorado Beach Collegiate in Dorado, Puerto Rico, which wrapped play on Tuesday. Dutton, a senior from Foxfire, North Carolina, posted rounds of 73-68-67, while Marcotte, a graduate student from Apex, North Carolina, shot rounds of 68-67-73, with each golfer completing the tournament with a score of 208 (-8). During the event, Dutton moved up 13 spots on the leaderboard with his final round of 67. Marcotte finished the tournament in a four-way tie for second place in birdies with 16.

UNCG won the Dorado Beach Collegiate with a tournament score of 835 (-29) in a field of 16 teams and 102 golfers. The Spartans shot 273 in the first round, 279 in the second round and 283 in the final round.

The Spartans will play their next tournament at the Sea Palms Invitational in Sea Island, Georgia, on March 13-15.
