VMI’s Bradley named SoCon Player of the Week
Junior leads the Keydets to a pair of wins
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – VMI guard Rickey Bradley Jr. has been named the Southern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for all contests from Jan. 13-19. The award is selected by the league office.
Bradley helped the Keydets win their first two SoCon games of the season last week, averaging 21.5 points per game in the two contests. VMI’s two straight victories marked the first time the Keydets have won two straight conference games since the 2021-22 season.
Bradley, a junior, had a team-high 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals as VMI defeated Western Carolina, 66-50, on Jan. 15. Three days later, the native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, logged 29 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal in a 75-70 win at The Citadel. Bradley became first VMI player to win the conference’s player of the week honor since Feb. 21, 2022, when current Chattanooga guard Trey Bonham received the award.
For the week, Bradley went 9-for-19 from the field, including 6-for-10 from beyond the arc. He also went 19-for-21 at the charity stripe. Bradley currently leads the conference in free throws made (82).
