In a one-possession game in the closing seconds, the Buccaneers got a defensive stop to escape with the win. Mercer went 23-for-53 (43%) from the field to ETSU's 23-for-58 (51%) shooting. Both teams left points at the foul line as Mercer went 15-for-26 (58%) and ETSU 15-23 (65%). The Buccaneers had the advantage on the glass with a 41-31 rebounding edge.

Wofford 77, Western Carolina 69

WOF - The Wofford men's basketball team (8-8, 2-1) used an 11-point lead at halftime to hold off the Western Carolina Catamounts (4-10, 0-3) in a 77-69 win on Wednesday night at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium. The Terriers shot 62.5 percent from the field in the opening half, including eight threes on 53.3 percent shooting.

"I thought our guys showed a lot of resolve," said head coach Dwight Perry. "We could've gone a lot of different ways when we let our lead dwindle, but I thought our guys did a great job of continuing to stick with it. We made big time plays on both ends of the floor, we had guys share the ball, and we had some timely stops. In this league, the most important thing is getting a win. We're really glad to have a win."

WCU - Western Carolina senior Bernard Pelote and redshirt sophomore Marcus Kell both matched their individual career highs on Wednesday night to lead the Catamounts, but homestanding Wofford overcame WCU's feverish start to the second half by closing the game on a 13-to-3 run over the final three minutes of regulation to edge the Catamounts 77-69 in Southern Conference action at the Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
