Strong Offense and Pitching Propel The Citadel Bulldogs to Sunday Victory
The Citadel scored seven runs on ten hits. The Bulldogs snapped a 17-game losing streak against the Terriers. Four Bulldogs had a multi-hit day, including TJ Anderson, who led the Bulldogs by going 3-for-5 at the plate, marking his first three-hit game of his career. Anthony Hausner went 2-for-4 with an RBI, marking his sixth of the season. Thomas Rollauer recorded two hits on the day. Travis Elliott posted two crucial RBI singles. Lane Tobin recorded two doubles and one RBI, bringing his total to four doubles and 11 RBIs. Wofford Baseball Drops Series Finale to The Citadel
The Citadel Bulldogs scored in the first inning and held the Wofford baseball team to just a run Sunday afternoon despite the Terriers' best comeback efforts as the Bulldogs claimed a 7-1 win at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. Wofford falls to 20-9 (2-1 SoCon) as The Citadel improves to 15-14 (3-3 SoCon). Wofford used a trio of pitchers in the contest with Carter Rasmussen (2-1) suffering the loss in his first start as a Terrier, allowing just one unearned run in 1.2 innings of work. He struck out one with no walks. Kenny Michaels followed with 2.2 frames out of the bullpen, and Alec Bouchard hurled the final 3.2 innings.
Torres’ clutch three-run blast sets up Keydets for victory
VMI Baseball capped off the Southern Conference series against UNC Greensboro with a win on Sunday at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium. Down by three in the fifth inning, the Keydets (17-11, 3-3 SoCon) mounted a big comeback, starting with a game-tying home run by Boston Torres that led to an 8-6 win over the Spartans. With the triumph, VMI evens its conference record to stay in the middle of the pack in the SoCon race.
UNCG Baseball Drops Finale After Winning Weekend Series at VMI
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team fell 8-6 in a three-game weekend series finale against the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) Keydets in The Southern Conference (SoCon) action on Sunday afternoon at Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium. Despite falling the finale, the Spartans, who are now 12-15 (2-1 SoCon), won the series at VMI two games to one after prevailing 9-7 on Friday and 13-12 on Saturday. UNCG grabbed the game's first lead on Sunday in the second inning. After Jose Perez drew a walk and Tyler Steele singled to left-center, JJ Parsons lifted a three-run homer over the wall in left to make it 3-0 Spartans.
Strong Pitching Performance Leads Samford Bulldogs To 5-0 Win Over Creighton
Samford starting pitcher Mason Blasche threw 7.0 shutout innings to lead the Bulldog baseball team to a 5-0 win over Creighton in the final game of a three-game series Sunday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field. With the win, Samford improved its record to 14-14 on the season. Creighton fell to 16-7 with the loss. Blasche (3-0) allowed just three hits in earning the win. He struck out seven batters, while allowing just one walk. Evan Steckmesser pitched the final 2.0 innings, giving up just one hit to close out the win.
