Samford 11, West Georgia 7
The Samford University baseball team earned an 11-7 win at West Georgia Tuesday afternoon at Cole Field. With the win, Samford improved its record to 6-7. West Georgia fell to 7-4 with the loss. For Samford in the win, freshman Jake Souders went 4-for-5, scoring three runs. Freshman Gatlin Pitts went 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. Hayden Perry went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Jeffrey Ince went 3-for-6 with three RBI, while Michael Gupton went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Presbyterian 4, Wofford 3
It was a pitchers' duel Tuesday evening at the PC Baseball Complex, but the Wofford baseball team fell 4-3 to Presbyterian after a late two-run inning for the Blue Hose. Wofford falls to 11-2 as Presbyterian improves to 7-6. Sheldon Egger started for the Terriers, pitching 4.0 innings with two runs allowed on three hits and one walk. He struck out a pair. Michael Sills (1-1) suffered the loss after pitching 2.1 innings with two runs allowed on four hits and one walk. He also struck out a pair. Champ Davis hurled the final 1.2 innings with two hits allowed and two strikeouts, surrendering no runs.
NC State 10, UNCG 0
The UNC Greensboro (UNCG) baseball team was handed a 10-0 loss in non-conference action by the NC State Wolfpack on Tuesday evening at UNCG Baseball Stadium. After NC State's Justin DeCriscio reached third to start the game, Luke Nixon grounded out to second to give the Wolfpack the game's first lead, 1-0. The Wolfpack extended their lead to 3-0 in the fourth frame when Chris McHugh sent a two-run no-doubt home run over the wall in left.
